The Code of Halloween

I remember the biggest question in Halloween was always “where’s the good stuff?” We’d hit the different neighborhoods, scoping them out until we had a pretty good idea who was giving out the big candy bars. Now there’s something better….the code of halloween!

Out of candy. Giving out Taco Bell Sauce Packets.

Oh, oh. Dentist’s home.

Freebies: First I Prayed then I voted

I was giving some critique in the church marketing lab and through the process decided to just pull the images together for the person and make it available for him to use. Well…why not give those to you as well.
Nothing spectacular by any means…but free nonetheless and hopefully one or two of you can find […]

My lessons in twitter

Well, I’ll be honest, I didn’t think I was going to like Twitter…but I gotta say, I’m a believer. Now, I’m not in Terry Storch’s camp…it’s not going to replace my blog but it certainly supplements it.
So after a few months using the twitter and learning a thing or two I thought I’d share what […]

Designer Revenge

Something to think about the next time you:

play art director when you should be finishing your sermon
ask for the logo to be bigger
make every project hot…and then sit on them for a week
give valuable feedback like “we want it to pop more”
tell the designer you’ll “know it when you see it”
explain that you have $0 […]

Fill ‘er up.

Below is a great video showing the type of outreach and compassion the church should be doing. Too often we think there must be an altar call or invitation to salvation after every outreach event we do. Don’t hear me wrong, I think there’s a time and place for the altar and in fact I […]

IMC @ Grand Rapids

I’ll be headed to Grand Rapids tomorrow to speak on Wednesday at the Internet Ministry Conference. I’m tag teaming with Brad Abare and really looking forward to being in the ring with him. We’re doing two sessions: Don’t Suck Online and You’ve Got Personality.
The first is an important lesson, especially for this tech savvy group: […]

Seth beat me to it!

Ok, so I was going to write a post about Seth Godin’s new book Tribes as it relates to the church and the “tribes” within the church. While you can take many things from Seth’s various books and apply them to the church, this one could have been published by Zondervan.
I was then going to […]

Periodic Table of Branding

Ahhh, the science of branding and marketing…and they think we just make this stuff up!

Is Sunday the beginning or the end?

I had the chance to have dinner with Erik Ticen last week…we talked about the usual - raising the bar in communication, design and visual communication vs. pretty pictures and then we got on the topic of church. What is church? What would Christ think of our definition of church? Of course one of our […]

Sprout, worth checking out.

I ran across this little tool when I was at the HOW Design Conference…I remain a big proponent of a tailored solution that fits your personality and resonates with you brand keeping everything consistent but it’s a tool worth looking at that can bring some dynamic content to your blog or website (without having to […]
